Lecture
In the lecture, the lecturer covered business models in the digital world. The lecture focused on business processes, routines, the IS impact on organisations, and organisational structures. We went over the pyramid structure that governs the business processes on different levels. The levels include operational, managerial and executive. The operational level is staff who directly deal with consumers, managerial level is the managers who control operational level and executive level is the CEO, who governs both operational and executive level business processes. Also we went over Mintzberg's 5 types of organisational structure, competitive forces, free economics business model and how it is applied in the digital world.
Seminar
For the seminar we covered pivot tables in excel. Within the session we had a step by step instruction on pivot tables with our teacher. We also discovered the purpose of pivot tables, which is to present data in a report format. For the seminar we had to construct the graph independently to ensure that, we become competent at making reports. So when we do the 2nd part of our coursework we will be able to use this effectively.
